Hi, I'm Simona!
I'm the human behind CanExplores. My journey into the dog training industry began following what is almost a “rite of passage” amongst canine professionals: fuelled by the “I have had dogs all my life” blissful ignorance, I took on a dog that made me question everything I thought I knew about dogs.
As someone who had been raised around shepherds, bull breeds and former street dogs, I severely underestimated the challenges of taking on an adolescent border collie x sprocker from a neglect case. What started as independent research on canine behaviour and training quickly snowballed into taking countless courses, attending seminars, mentoring and shadowing under established dog trainers.
Nearly 8 years later, I’ve organised and led group walks for More Paws, completed a 6-month mentorship with Phoenix K9 USA, and am close to finishing a Level 4 diploma in Advanced Canine Behaviour from the British College of Canine Studies. I’m also receiving coaching through the STSK9 MVP programme, travelling across the country to shadow established trainers, and volunteering as a foster coordinator for Dogs Walk This Way Rescue, where I support and guide fosterers.
